It’s Showtime! “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” only in theaters September 6.
Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award-winning Beetlejuice.
Keaton returns to his iconic role alongside Oscar nominee Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Little Women) as Lydia Deetz and two-time Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt$ Creek, Corpse Bride) as Delia Deetz, with new cast members Justin Theroux (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectre, The Matrix films), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon) in his feature film debut, with Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI) as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, At Eternity’s Gate).

According to The InSneider, Golden Globe nominee Jenna Ortega is reportedly in negotiations for the leading role in the film adaptation of Klara and the Sun. Based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s bestselling novel of the same name, the project hails from Sony-owned label 3000 Pictures.
Ortega’s potential casting comes after the 21-year-old actress recently exited Scream VII due to scheduling conflicts. She’s currently preparing for the impending production start of Wednesday Season 2 in Ireland and will next be seen in Tim Burton’s long-awaited Beetlejuice 2 movie, which has just wrapped its filming.
The Klara and the Sun adaptation will be directed by Taika Waititi from a screenplay written by Dahvi Waller. The Thor: Ragnarok filmmaker has been attached to the project since May 2023. The story centers around a solar-powered robot girl created to keep sick children from being lonely.
Executive producers are Ishiguro, Jeffrey Clifford, and Rosie Alison, with David Heyman, Waititi, and Garett Basch producing. Elizabeth Gabler has been enlisted by 3000 Pictures to oversee the project in behalf of the studio.
The official book synopsis reads: “Here is the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. She remains hopeful that a customer will soon choose her. Klara and the Sun is a thrilling book that offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: what does it mean to love?”

Actor Jenna Ortega has exited the Scream franchise — reportedly due to a conflicting filming schedule with Wednesday, Netflix’s smash hit. Publications such as Deadline and Variety are denying that this has anything to do with the firing of Ortega’s on-screen sister Melissa Barrera over her pro-Palestine comments. Ortega has expressed strong pro-Palestine views over the years.
Ortega and Barrera played Tara and Sam Carpenter in Scream V and Scream VI and were set to reprise their roles in the seventh instalment of the film.
Barrera’s firing was announced on Wednesday, over ‘antisemitic’ comments she made. “Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech,” the production company said in a statement.
The company claims she made antisemitic posts when she referred to Israel as a “colonised land” and repeated an antisemitic trope when she posted “Western media only shows the [Israeli] side. Why do they do that, I will let you deduce for yourself.”
Though some publications are claiming her exit has nothing to do with Barrera’s firing, the news breaking a day after has left the internet speculating, especially when coupled with the pair sharing similar views on Palestine.
Previously, the film’s director Christopher Landon reacted to Barrera’s exit in a now deleted statement on X (formerly Twitter). “Everything sucks. Stop yelling. This was not my decision to make,” he said.

Jenna Ortega is reportedly threatened to walk off a massive horror franchise after Melissa Barrera, her co-star and on-screen sister, was abruptly fired from Scream VII after posting pro-Palestine comments on social media.
Last night that Melissa Barrera was fired from the hugely successful Scream reboot series, in which she portrays lead character Sam Carpenter, after posting statements about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine that were perceived as invoking a notorious anti-Semitic trope.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, Melissa Barrera asserted that “Censorship is very real” and questioned why she could not find “videos and information about the Palestinian side,” continuing on to say “western media” suppressed information and “Why they do that, I will let you deduce for yourself.”
This last statement, in particular, was criticized as invoking the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that Western media was controlled by Jewish people. Melissa Barrera was abruptly fired from the upcoming Scream sequel by Spyglass Media Group, the production company behind the series (which is distributed by Paramount Pictures).
Spyglass issued a statement, saying, “[Our] stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”
Less than 24 hours later, fans of the Scream series are alleging that Jenna Ortega, who portrays Barrera’s young sister Tara Carpenter in the movies, has asked to be released from her obligations and will walk away from a massive franchise in solidarity.
To be clear, this has not been confirmed by the Netflix star or her representation, so her actual actions and beliefs on the Melissa Barrera situation are unknown. In fact, while many commentators are citing a report from Entertainment Tonight, Inside the Magic has not been able to locate this article.
However, this has not stopped Jenna Ortega (and Scream) fans from overwhelmingly supporting the Wednesday actress and calling on her to quit the series.
On Twitter, it seems that @UnlHorror_ was an early account to make this claim, saying “🚨 Jenna Ortega asked her agency to end her contract with the scream franchise, after Melissa Barrero was fired, says Entertainment Tonight.
